PUNISHMENT TO FIT THE CRIME?

BRING BACK CAPITAL PUNISHMENT? CORPORAL - CERTAINLY! No respect for one's fellow man/woman now means where words and negotiation have failed with the crime committer, however small the offence, there are now required stronger measures. A hefty whack on the buttocks for the youthful miscreant and other suitable measures for the litterbug, yob, hooded illiterati, etc and a bloody good neck throttle for the Drug Pusher/Rapist/Paedophile/Terrorist/Cop Killer/Traitor and murderous inciter, would excise many of our present problems in this area; not only when the public are further endangered when the law breakers and undesirables are released from a mild penal servitude, but help us all financially too - especially with those serving long time. If you all believe in an after life then these unwanted specimens can use the next one to improve upon themselves! Debate this please and put me wise...YOU may be a supporter of the nanny state and the psychologist's couch...so advise me how I can better my views regarding my thoughts on these 'warts on the face of humanity' being members of our so-called modern day society. Were they ever born with a conscience?

THE NEW DIPLOMACY

David Cameron's new approach towards venting opinion and putting his view across to the diplomatic world is both refreshing and welcomed. It really is about time we spoke in plain English exactly what we think of the attitudes taken by Israel and Pakistan. Times are changing from watercress sandwiches and polished rhetoric. Both have relied on western backing - financially and otherwise - and then abused by deceitful means, the power that this support has armed them with. The Israel state was founded on terrorism - remember the Stern gang and St David's Hotel as examples? Where would they be now without American financial help? Who's calling the kettle black re Gaza,etc? Pakistan have been double crossing the civilised western world for years - agreeing with us face to face and then snidely, behind their backs, supporting the Taliban and God knows who else. What confidence does this give British and Allied forces who are fighting in Afghanistan (as well as a corrupt Afghan government)? So David Cameron - you continue in this fashion, and if it means that that this is 'shooting from the hip diplomacy' as one national newspaper referred to it as - then carry on! We need to shake the diplomatic world up from its years of lethergy.

All this criticism, and anti-Brit comments re the massive/catastrophic oil spillage is really nothing compared to the American Union Carbide explosion in India. 12,000 died so far and still counting, and the American Chairman of that company absconding once a warrant for his arrest had been made! Modern-day with this oil leakage, does not America realise that BP employs 23,000 of them, has five American directors, and that the rig itself was run by an American company TRANSOCEAN plus more than a little assistance fron the Dick Cheney company HALLIBURTON? The more slagging of BP the more jeopardy for the USA's own countrymen.It would be worth remembering - a closed mouth gathers less foot!

IT'S REALLY QUITE SIMPLE TO SOLVE OUR PRESENT FINANCIAL MESS. JUST WITHDRAW THE £45,000,000 yes! forty-five million pounds, THAT WE PAY DAILY INTO THE ENVENOMED ULCER'S (European Union) COFFERS and WE COULD BE IN THE BLACK IN A DAMN SIGHT SHORTER TIME THAT ALL OUR WOULD-BE MASTERS ARE TELLING US. THAT MEANS IN ONE YEAR - WE WOULD HAVE SAVED £16425,000,000!!! How's that! WHY DOESN'T CAMERON SEIZE THE NETTLE, GRAB THE BULL BY THE HORNS (or Brown by the balls) AND APPEASE THE EURO SCEPTICS IN HIS PARTY? BECAUSE HE IS SPINELESS! LIKEWISE THE LIBS WITH MASTER CLEGG - THEY'RE IN LOVE WITH EUROPE. AS FOR 'PRUDENCE' BROWN - I THINK WE'VE DISCOVERED ENOUGH ABOUT HIM ALREADY; GOLD RESERVES RINGS A BELL! What is the purpose of the Olympics? The modern reason based on their revival in 1896 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin was to promote improvement in national and international understanding through sport- NOT every conceivable sport,though. What has happened? They have been taken over by big money, the media, with no thought for the original concept.The classic 'sports' were Foot Races (track and field as we now recognise them), Wrestling,Boxing,Martial Arts,Equestrian, Pentathlon, and Weightlifting. Present day we now have World Cups, World Games,with the equivalent for every sport conceived by man, so why do we need them all for the Olympics? If I was a Footballer, for example, I'd rather be a World Cup Winner than an Olympic Gold Medal Winner - wouldn't you? The point of all this - cut down on the sports, it's getting ridiculous; even darts are being considered! As for sliding down an iced track on a tray...unbelievable; good luck to the winners, but it's not a sport in the true sense of the word. Get back to the originals and as for all the hype, backhanders, and God knows what else with different locations - keep the Games permanently in Greece - it would certainly help with their present economics!(As long as the Greeks don't mind - it was their original idea, for goodness sake).I can see in the future at the rate we are 'progressing' that the Olympic Games will last two to three months and have as many 'sports' as there are days in the year.What do you think?
